Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for their New Year’s Eve matchup against the Miami Hurricanes in their first College Football Playoff matchup of the season.

While they are viewed as heavy favorites by many, Miami is not going to go down without a fight. Ohio State will need to come into the game focused and ready to play in order to move on in pursuit of a second straight national championship.
Both teams are loaded with talent, especially on the offensive side of the football.
Fans will be in for a treat when it comes to quarterback play. The Buckeyes have Julian Sayin leading the way, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist in his first season as a college starter. Carson Beck has a good chance to be on an NFL team at this point next season and has had a great season for the Hurricanes.
Ahead of the big game, Ohio State has received an ominous warning from college football analyst and former player David Pollack. He believes that the trenches could be a problem for the Buckeyes.

“Miami’s better on both sides of the line of scrimmage,” Pollack said. “Miami’s offensive line to me is better than Ohio State’s Miami’s defensive line is better than Ohio State’s.”
He’s certainly entitled to that opinion and perhaps he will end up being right. However, Ohio State has elite talent on both sides of the football that surpasses what Miami has on paper.
Offensively, Sayin will be throwing to two elite wide receivers in Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate. Max Klare and Bo Jackson have become key playmakers at the tight end and running back positions respectively.
The Buckeyes will certainly need to take care of the line of scrimmage. They can’t afford to be pushed around by Miami.

Despite that concern, Ohio State is heavily favored for a reason. If the Buckeyes play to their ability, they should win and advance.
