Ishan Kishan dominates this domestic season
The Jharkhand captain played a remarkable knock of 125 runs off just 39 balls, laced with seven boundaries and 14 sixes, against Saurashtra in Ahmedabad. His blistering ton powered Jharkhand to 412/9 on the board in their 50 overs against Saurashtra in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 clash. Virat Singh (88) and Kumar Kushagra (63) also hit brilliant fifties for Jharkhand.
Ishan Kishan’s remarkable knock came after he captained Jharkhand to their first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title earlier this month by hitting the match-winning century. Kishan finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 517 runs. In the final, he reached the hundred in just 45 balls, making it only the third-fastest century ever scored in a men’s T20 tournament final.
With that knock, the star wicketkeeper-batter became only the second batter to score a century in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. With a total of five centuries in the T20 tournament, Kishan is now the joint-highest centuries ever along with Abhishek Sharma.
The Road Back to the Indian Cricket Team
Meanwhile, December has turned into a defining month in Ishan Kishan’s career. Back in December 2023, Kishan was dropped from the Indian cricket team after requesting a break for personal reasons. Ishan had returned from South Africa and then missed domestic games, which didn’t sit well with the BCCI.
He was facing uncertainty and long domestic seasons with little clarity about his future. Instead of giving up, Kishan kept working through packed domestic schedules, carrying the weight of rejection, and spent months away from the spotlight. Those two years changed him deeply, especially his mindset, and he now emerged as the stronger version of himself.
Now, in the same month of December, Kishan has forced his way back into India’s T20I squad. And now a good run in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 could soon open the door to an ODI comeback as well.
