Penn State linebacker to enter transfer portal

With Penn State preparing for the Pinstripe Bowl, the roster is in the process of offseason changes. The Nittany Lions have already seen a handful of notable players decide to opt out of the bowl game to focus on their NFL futures, while a few others have made the decision to enter the transfer portal. Among the most recent players to announce plans to enter the transfer portal before the bowl game is linebacker Kari Jackson.

Jackson announced on social media his plans for his future, confirming he will enter the transfer portal to explore his options. As a redshirt freshman, Jackson still has three more seasons of eligibility at his disposal for whichever school lands his transfer commitment.

Jackson struggled to get on the field during his brief time in Happy Valley as injuries seemed to get in the way. In his two seasons with the Nittany Lions, the former three-star recruit appeared in just one game. With a new head coach and coaching staff being formed, this could be a good opportunity for a fresh start for Jackson.

The NCAA transfer portal will be open from January 2, 2026 through January 16.

Jackson is the sixth player from Penn State’s roster to make a move to the transfer portal. Other notable defensive players entering the transfer portal include edge rusher Chaz Coleman and cornerback AJ Harris.
