WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page is sticking to his principlesβeven when Hollywood comes calling.
In a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Page opened up about rejecting a controversial acting role that would have seen him portray a pedophile. While he didnβt name the project or those involved, he made it crystal clear that crossing certain lines isnβt up for negotiationβno matter the paycheck.
βThere are things that are heading my way that arenβt rainbows and unicorns and stuff, and some of them were tempting, but nah, not gonna do that,β Page explained. βI had a chanceβ¦ they wanted me to play a pedophile. Itβs an acting gig. But I wouldnβt do it.β
Since retiring from full-time wrestling, Page has found success as an actor and entrepreneur, but he hasnβt lost his moral compass. He added that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon played a big part in helping him understand his value, especially when it comes to walking away from offers that donβt feel right.
βThereβs so much I learned on that little bit of run with WWE. One was know your worth,β he said. βWhen someone really wants you, you canβt be afraid to get up and walk away from the table. Thatβs what Vince McMahon taught me, and I learned that lesson the hard way those first six months I was thereβ¦ But he taught me that, and itβs a valuable, valuable, valuable lesson.β
DDPβs refusal to take on the disturbing role sends a strong message about knowing your worthβand your limits. At a time when many actors take any gig to stay visible, Page made it clear: some things just arenβt worth it
