LSU football is set to face Houston on Saturday night in the Texas Bowl. It’s a familiar spot for LSU after the Tigers made the Texas Bowl trip last year.
The location won’t be the only familiar element for LSU. The Tigers will see a couple of familiar faces on the Houston sideline — former Tiger defenders Jordan Allen and Christian Braithwaite.

Allen, a safety, departed LSU after the 2024 season. He’s a Louisiana native who spent three years with the Tigers. He’s found a steady role with Houston, playing 632 snaps in 2025. Allen ranks No. 6 on the Cougars with 38 solo tackles while breaking up two passes, making 12 stops, and recording a sack.
Allen’s decision to transfer wasn’t much of a surprise. He played little as an underclassman in 2022 and 2023, but played 111 snaps in 2024. It was clear LSU was looking for safeties in the portal, though, which was going to make it hard for Allen to find playing time in Baton Rouge.
Brathwaite signed with LSU in 2023, but spent just one year with the Tigers. Brathwaite has only played 10 defensive snaps for the Cougars this year, but sees time on Houston’s special teams units.
