Iga Swiatek suffered a shock defeat at the World Tennis Continental Cup today after world No. 57 Wang Xinyu handed the world No. 2 a 6-2 6-3 defeat.
On Friday, the Polish tennis star played extremely well and ousted reigning WTA Finals champion Elena Rybakina 6-3 6-3 at the mixed team event in Shenzhen.
Today, Swiatek struggled with consistency and couldn't find any rhythm on the court. On the other side, home player Wang delivered her best tennis and managed to pull off an upset just before the official start of the 2026 season. The two previously met at the 2023 French Open champion, when the Pole registered a dominant 6-0 6-0 win.

Dzisiaj nasza reprezentantka musiała uznać wyższość Xinyu Wang. Chinka rozegrała bardzo dobre spotkanie i zasłużenie pokonała Polkę 6:2, 6:3.
