A dozen years ago Sunday, Ronda Rousey continued her women’s MMA reign of terror in her second fight in the UFC.
In her rematch against arch rival Miesha Tate in the UFC 168 co-main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 28, 2013, Rousey got her biggest test yet when she needed to go to the third round.

But despite the delay in the inevitable, Rousey still turned in another armbar for her resume to remain the women’s bantamweight champion. But right after Tate tapped, she stood up and extended a hand to Rousey, still on the canvas. Rousey rose to her feet, glared at Tate, and pivoted without a handshake to bury the proverbial hatchet.
Fans quickly hit Rousey with boos, and they continued when she was announced as the winner, had the belt put around her waist, and was interviewed in the cage.
Rousey moved to 8-0 with the bonus-winning finish. It was her eighth straight first-round armbar finish, as well. Rousey had four more title wins after the Tate rematch – but only one was by her famous armbar finish.
Rousey lost the bantamweight title to Holly Holm in late November 2015, was quickly finished in a title shot against Amanda Nunes 13 months later, and has not fought since then.
