Michigan State vs. Cornell: Broadcast info, prediction for Monday

by

Michigan State basketball is back after the holiday break with one final non-conference matchup on Monday before diving back into Big Ten play.

The Spartans will host the Cornell Big Red on Monday evening in their first game back in over a week. This marks the Spartans’ final non-conference game of the regular season, with an important ranked matchup against Nebraska coming up later in the week.

Michigan State last took the floor on December 20 in a neutral site victory over Oakland from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. That win over the Golden Grizzlies pushed Michigan State to 11-1 overall on the year, which has the Spartans ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Cornell is also coming off a win before the holiday break, topping Albany on December 21. With that most recent win, the Big Red are 6-5 overall on the year.

Will Michigan State and Cornell come out rusty after being off for the holidays? That’s always the question we need to ask after a week-plus break between games like this. I personally anticipate that to be the case and think we are going to see a slog in the first half. Cornell has proven they can shoot the ball well from outside, but eventually, Michigan State will pull away and wrap-up non-conference play with another double-digit win.
