ORLANDO, Fla. — Kyle Whittingham is officially Michigan football’s 22nd head coach in program history, and he was introduced to the world as such on Sunday in a conference room at the team hotel in Orlando as the Wolverines prepare to face Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
You can watch the entire introductory press conference here, but there was more to his first appearance in maize and blue than what was broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

After his presser, Whittingham took more questions from the media — about the job, what his offense will look like, and more. He spent five minutes giving more candid answers as to the direction and vision of his new program, and WolverinesWire was on hand to capture the moment and also ask him some questions.
You can watch the five-minute appearance below.
Whittingham will not be coaching in the Citrus Bowl but plans to observe and ‘stay out of the way’ of the extant coaches. For the moment, he is assembling his staff, with announcements forthcoming once he’s secured some names.
Beyond that, his focus is player retention, and he revealed on Sunday that he had a 45-minute conversation with quarterback Bryce Underwood.
