MM 12.31: 2 Maryland football defenders announce return to program in 2026

by

Maryland football announced the return of two defensive contributors for 2026 Tuesday: linebacker Trey Reddick and safety Messiah Delhomme.

Reddick, who will be entering his junior season in 2026, had an impressive 2025 campaign. He registered 48 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, both good for fifth on the team. He also notched a career-high 11 tackles against NIU to go along with a sack. Reddick’s numbers improved greatly from his freshman season, where he totaled just 16 tackles.

Delhomme, another Virginia native, was a steady contributor on both defense and special teams in 2025. He was one of just 11 players in the entire nation to block two kicks, and he was sixth on the team in total tackles with 39. The former four-star recruit is likely to see an uptick in playing time in 2026 with the departure of Jalen Huskey.
