Alabama women’s basketball starts the new year and a new slate on the road at South Carolina.
After going 14-0 in nonconference play, marking the best start in program history, the Crimson Tide opens up SEC play in Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena against the Gamecocks.

Like last year, No. 24 Alabama and No. 3 South Carolina (13-1) meet in a top 25 matchup. When the Crimson Tide faced the Gamecocks last season, Alabama was ranked 19th and South Carolina stood at No. 2. Alabama fell 76-58 for its third loss of the season. Now, the Crimson Tide looks to snap a 23 game-long losing streak against Dawn Staley and company.
Holding opponents to 33% from the field, being balanced in the post by Essence Cody and Naomi Jones has been key to Alabama’s success thus far − as have guards Jessica Timmons and Karly Weathers.
