Tennessee wide receiver Amari Jefferson plans to enter the transfer portal, according to numerous reports on Jan. 1.
The transfer portal opens on Jan. 2.
Jefferson was the 2023 Mr. Football in Division II-AAA at Baylor School. As a four-star recruit, he was one of Tennessee’s top high school prospects in the 2024 class. He spent one season each at Alabama and Tennessee but didn’t pan out at either.

Jefferson had a brief and uneventful stint with the Vols after transferring from Alabama in January 2025. He played two games and four snaps total.
Tennessee was thin and inexperienced at wide receiver entering the 2025 season, but Jefferson never cracked the rotation. He was recovering from an injury when he arrived on campus, and walk-ons were ahead of him during the season.
Jefferson is a 6-foot, 207-pounder from Chattanooga. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
