Iowa football has its first transfer portal visitor lined up.

Per On3’s Pete Nakos, Iowa will welcome in former Villanova defensive back Anthony Hawkins on a visit this weekend. 247Sports’ Chris Hummer reports that Hawkins will visit Iowa this Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 3-4) before a Jan. 4-5 visit to Kentucky and a Jan. 6 visit to Big Ten rival Wisconsin.

A 6-foot-3, 195-pound redshirt freshman defensive back, Hawkins started 15 games for Villanova this past season, totaling 59 tackles, 11 passes defensed, four tackles for loss, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Per Pro Football Focus, Hawkins made eight starts as Villanova’s strong safety, one as its free safety and six others as a slot corner. A native of Arnold, Md., Hawkins played 875 snaps this past season with Villanova according to PFF.

Hawkins is projected as a safety out of the transfer portal, but he offers some positional flexibility. Heading into 2026, Iowa returns its starting strong safety in Koen Entringer and Zach Lutmer, who started 10 games at CASH and one at corner for the Hawkeyes in 2025.
