LSU women’s basketball vs Vanderbilt game score, live updates

For the first time this season, LSU women’s basketball is picking itself up off the mat.

Kim Mulkey and the Tigers were stunned the last time out, falling at home against No. 12 Kentucky, 80-78 off a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Wildcats guard Tonie Morgan.

The loss was the first for No. 5 LSU (14-1, 0-1 SEC) this season. For the first time in a long time, LSU is sub-.500 in league play.

Now, the Tigers will have to try get back in win column in their first conference road game at No. 11 Vanderbilt (14-0, 1-0), who are coming off a SEC-opening win at Arkansas.

LSU will have to find a way to slow down Vandy sophomore guard Mikayla Blakes, who ranks second in the SEC in scoring at 24.7 points per game.

The Commodores gave up 71 points to Arkansas earlier this week, so there’s plenty of opportunity for the Tigers to score against their defense. But where LSU needs most improvement is rebounding. Kentucky outrebounded LSU by 16 in the league opener Thursday. Vandy is one of the worst teams in the SEC at rebounding while middle of the pack in rebounds allowed.
