As a chaotic transfer portal continues to unfold across the national landscape, former Iowa football running back Jaziun Patterson announced he will be following several other former Hawkeyes to East Lansing, Mich., where he has committed to the Michigan State Spartans via the transfer portal.

Patterson will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Spartans as he redshirted during his true freshman season in 2022.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound native of Pompano Beach, Fla., recorded 296 rushing yards on 60 carries and caught three passes for nine yards in his 10 games played this season.

Over his four seasons with the Hawkeyes, Patterson totaled 858 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 195 rushing attempts and caught nine passes for 35 yards. Patterson made two starts across 34 games played with the Hawkeyes.

Patterson was a three-star signee in Iowa’s 2022 class per 247Sports, where he was rated as the nation’s No. 65 running back and the 102nd-ranked player in Florida.

With former Hawkeyes special teams coach LaVar Woods and punter Rhys Dakin also joining the Spartans next season, adding Patterson to the backfield is yet another solid move by new head coach Pat Fitzgerald as he continues to rebuild the once well-respected program in East Lansing.
