Last month, prior to the Alamo Bowl against USC, TCU starting quarterback Josh Hoover made the decision to enter the transfer portal. With Hoover departing the Horned Frogs prior to the game, he did not face off against the Trojans.
That is, he did not face off against the Trojans in 2025. This past week, Hoover reportedly committed to Indiana. With USC set to visit Bloomington next season, Hoover may finally get to play against the Trojans, albeit a year later than expected.

As a redshirt junior in 2025, Hoover started all 12 of TCU’s regular season games. He completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,472 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, while also adding two scores on the ground.
At Indiana, he is expected to replace Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza does have another season of eligibility remaining, but is projected as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, so the odds of him returning to school appear to be slim.
Sometimes, it is funny how sports work out. Hoover is changing teams and conferences, but he still cannot escape from facing USC. That will certainly be a fun matchup to look at once the 2026 season rolls around.
