Are Alicia Tournebize, Ta’Niya Latson playing today for South Carolina vs Georgia?

COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball wants to have all 11 players for the first time all season.

The No. 3 Gamecocks have been without starting guard Ta’Niya Latson since she sprained her left ankle on Dec. 28. They are waiting for Alicia Tournebize, their new 6-foot-7 player from France, to hit the floor for her debut.

Coach Dawn Staley didn’t say Latson whether would return against Georgia on Jan. 11 (2 p.m. ET, SEC Network) but Latson was off the SEC injury report published Jan. 10 however Tournebize was listed as out.

During media availability on Jan. 9, Staley was asked in a two-part question if she thinks Tournebize will play against Georgia but she didn’t answer the Tournebize part of the question.

Latson is South Carolina’s second-leading scorer at 16.9 points per game but hasn’t gotten the chance to play in conference play yet as she went down in the second quarter of the final game before the New Year.

Both were in practice uniforms and shot free throws at the end of practice with everyone else on Jan. 7 but neither played on Jan. 8 in the 93-58 win over Arkansas on the road. They were both on the bench not in uniform.

On Jan. 9, Latson was playing with the starters during the open portion of practice available to media and didn’t appear to be behind the other four.

South Carolina’s injury history in 2025-26 season

Maddy McDaniel was injured in the season opener and missed one game before she served a suspension from Nov. 11-23.

Immediately after the Las Vegas tournament, injuries popped up again. Staley was without Agot Makeer from Dec. 3-28, including one game in the middle without Tessa Johnson and one without Madina Okot.

When she got everyone back for a second time on Dec. 28, Latson went down with an injury.
