Oregon loses DL Jericho Johnson to transfer portal

by

Yet another Oregon Duck has decided to depart from the program, as redshirt defensive lineman Jericho Johnson has announced that he’s entering the transfer portal. On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett was the first to report the news.

Johnson arrived in Eugene as a four-star and the No. 17 defensive lineman and No. 94 player overall in the 2024 recruiting class. He was a standout at Armijo High School in Fairfield, CA.

The 6-foot-4, 342-pounder appeared in two games as a true freshman in 2024, utilizing a redshirt. He saw more time in 2025, totaling five tackles and one pass defensed. His top performance came in the Ducks‘ 56-22 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal, as he notched a career-high two tackles.

Johnson’s departure comes on the same day that fellow defensive lineman Ashton Porter, Blake Purchase and Xadavien Sims entered the portal, potentially signaling that the entire Oregon defensive line will return for next season.

Already, defensive tackle Bear Alexander and edge rushers Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti have announced that they’ll return to Eugene in 2026, with the news coming out about the latter two today. A’Mauri Washington is the final piece of the defensive line, but with so many players departing, signs point towards him returning as well.

Johnson will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
