by

There’s a new team in the top 25 college basketball polls this week, and it’s none other than the Clemson Tigers.

After pushing past Notre Dame in a 76-61 win at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend on Saturday night, the Tigers (14-3 overall, 4-0 conference) entered the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll for the first time this season on Monday. Coach Brad Brownell’s team is ranked No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

Clemson also stormed into the AP Top 25 poll on Monday, as well. The Tigers are ranked No. 22 by AP voters, marking their first appearance in that poll this season.

The Tigers’ ranking in both polls follows a 4-0 start in ACC play that saw Clemson take down previously 24th-ranked SMU, 74-70, last Wednesday. Jestin Porter was the team’s leading scorer in the win at Notre Dame, finishing with a season-high 26 points and adding five steals.

RJ Godfrey, who had a team-high 17 points in the win over SMU, had 16 vs. Notre Dame.

As with the Coaches Poll, the ACC has five teams ranked in the AP Top 25. The Duke Blue Devils (15-1) are the highest-ranked team at No. 6, followed by the North Carolina Tar Heels (14-2) at No. 14. The Virginia Cavaliers (14-2) rose seven spots to No. 16 while the Louisville Cardinals (12-4) stayed at No. 20.

The Arizona Wildcats (16-0) remained No. 1 in the AP poll for the sixth consecutive week.
