For the fifth time this season, the UConn women’s basketball team swept the Big East’s weekly awards Monday.
Sophomore superstar Sarah Strong was crowned the Big East Player of the Week for the seventh time in her career and fourth time in 2025-26 after leading the Huskies to another pair of dominant victories in conference play. She averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, 5.5 assists and 5.5 steals across UConn’s wins over St. John’s and Creighton, also shooting 72% from the field across the two matchups.

Strong matched a career high in steals with six on top of 24 points in the Huskies’ 88-43 rout of St. John’s on Wednesday, and she logged her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds to power a 95-54 win at Creighton.
Strong currently leads the undefeated Huskies in every statistical category, averaging 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 3.7 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. She is also barely a percentage point shy of 50/40/90 shooting splits, currently hitting 60% from the field, 42.4% on 3-pointers and 88.9% at the free throw line.
Blanca Quinonez completed the UConn sweep, winning her sixth Big East Freshman of the Week honor. The freshman forward averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals across the two games last week on 60.9% shooting. Quinonez is currently the Huskies’ third-leading scorer playing just 18.8 minutes per game off the bench, and she is second on the team in 3-point percentage behind only sharpshooter Azzi Fudd hitting 47.2% from beyond the arc.
UConn has cruised through Big East play thus far with an 8-0 record and an average margin of victory of 46.8 over conference opponents. The Huskies return to action Thursday at Gampel Pavilion for a matchup against Villanova, currently the No. 2 team in the league.
