by

The Georgia Bulldogs are 2-1 to start SEC play and 14-2 on the season. Georgia split a pair of road games over the week to continue their strong start to the season.

Following Georgia’s 1-1 week, the Bulldogs have dropped from No. 20 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll to No. 22.

Coach Mike White and the Dawgs lost 92-77 at Florida, who is the defending national champions, in a game that featured a Somto Cyril ejection. Georgia bounced back to earn a tough 75-70 road win over South Carolina.

“The way we started defensively in the first half, our shot selection in the first half, just some stuff that has just got to continue to be addressed,” White said after Georgia’s win at South Carolina. “That said, though, the huge positive is South Carolina is a very, very good. They just came off a huge road win. They’re really hard to beat at home. Just winning on a road in this league, don’t take it for granted, guys. That was big, but we’ve got to keep getting better.”

The Bulldogs remain in position to make the NCAA Tournament, but must continue to notch SEC wins. The NCAA’s NET rankings have the Bulldogs as the fourth-best team in the SEC and the No. 25 team in the country.

Georgia has a couple of great opportunities at home this week. The Bulldogs hosting Ole Miss on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. ET (televised on ESPNU). On Saturday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. ET (television to be determined), Georgia will host No. 17 Arkansas and coach John Calipari for the first time since Calipari became Arkansas’ head coach.
