SEC Weekly Honors: Luca Urlando, Amy Riordan Lead Honorees

The SEC announced its weekly swimming and diving awards on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Here is a look at the honorees:

SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Luca Urlando, Georgia

Georgia’s Luca Urlando, a graduate student from Sacramento, Calif., collected four first-place finishes in Saturday’s victory over No. 12 Florida State. Urlando swept the butterfly events with NCAA cut times of 45.27 in the 100 and 1:39.59 in the 200, extending his winning streak in the 200 butterfly to 14 consecutive races dating back to October 2022. He also earned his sixth different NCAA cut with a win in the 200 IM, moving to 15th nationally with a time of 1:42.95, along with leading off a victorious 200 medley relay (1:24.38/21.10).

SEC Men’s Diver of the Week: Matthew Bray, Georgia

Georgia’s Matthew Bray, a junior from Fairfax, Va., registered season-best scores on both springboards in Georgia’s victory over No. 12 Florida State. On 3-meter, Bray nearly set a personal best mark with a final score of 401.35, never scoring lower than a 58.50 on any of his six dives. His peak came on his third dive as he posted a 79.90. On 1-meter, he placed second with a score of 327.70, peaking with a 66.00 on his third dive.

SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week: Sean Green, Georgia

Georgia’s Sean Green, a freshman from Rockaway Beach, N.Y., swept the distance events to help his squad to a victory over No. 12 Florida State. In the 1,000 freestyle, Green posted his second fastest time of the season, besting the field by nearly eight seconds (8:57.64). He followed it up with a winning time of 4:19.57 in the 500 freestyle, taking the race by over five seconds.

SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Amy Riordan, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Amy Riordan, a senior from Martinez, Ga., was a part of four podium finishes in the win over Virginia Tech. Riordan posted a pair of NCAA cut times to claim first place in the 200 free (1:45.12) and the 200 back (1:51.78), with her time in the 200 back setting the pool record at Carolina Natatorium. She also swam the leadoff leg of the first-place 200 medley relay (1:38.26/24.84) and the second-place 400 free relay (3:17.87/49.35).

SEC Women’s Diver of the Week: Sophie Verzyl, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Sophie Verzyl, a senior from Columbia, S.C., took first place in each of the springboard events in the win over Virginia Tech. Verzyl posted top scores of 338.85 on the 1-meter and 371.63 on the 3-meter against the Hokies in the final home meet of the 2025-26 season.

SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week: Kennedi Dobson, Georgia

Georgia’s Kennedi Dobson, a freshman from Levittown, Pa., collected three more individual wins for her rookie campaign in Georgia’s wins over Arkansas and Florida State. In the 1,000 freestyle, Dobson recorded a personal-best time of 9:29.05, ranking third nationally with the sixth-fastest mark in program history. She followed it up with another personal best of 1:53.66 in the 200 backstroke and an NCAA cut time of 4:39.48 in the 500 freestyle, remaining unbeaten in the event this season.
