Tennessee basketball guard named National Freshman of the Week

Tennessee women’s basketball guard Mia Pauldo was named United States Basketball Writers Association Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.

She won the award for a second time this season. The 5-foot-6 guard was also named SEC Freshman of the Week for a second time this season after being co-winner of the awards on Dec. 16, 2025.

Pauldo averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games last week, recording a .540 field goal percentage. She converted 90 percent of her free throw attempts in victories over Mississippi State and Arkansas.

Pauldo, a native of Patterson, New Jersey, has scored 10-plus points in seven of her last eight games. She scored a career-high 26 points against the Bulldogs in a, 90-80, victory. Pauldo converted 8-of-12 field goal attempts, 2-of-5 three-point attempts and 8-of-9 free throw attempts. She also totaled three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

In Sunday’s, 85-50, victory over the Razorbacks, Pauldo recorded 18 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Lady Vols (12-3, 3-0 SEC) at Alabama (17-1, 3-1 SEC) on Jan. 18. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. EST at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. SEC Network will televise the matchup.
