Walter Taylor to return to Vanderbilt football as tight end, per report

by

Walter Taylor, a former quarterback for Vanderbilt football, is returning to the program − but it may be at a different position, according to a report from On3.

Taylor was at Vanderbilt in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, he went 5-for-15 passing for 44 yards and an interception while running 30 times for 103 yards and a touchdown. He spent one year at Colorado and one at Ball State but did not appear in a game with either program.

Taylor lists himself as a tight end on his social media profiles. Listed at 6-5 and 241 pounds, he could be an interesting flex tight end option or serve as a wildcat quarterback.

The Commodores have already landed commitments from two portal tight ends after losing Eli Stowers and Emmanuel Adebi. But Taylor’s history with the program makes him an intriguing option. Stowers was also a quarterback at Texas A&M before moving to tight end at New Mexico State. He is a projected NFL draft pick this season.
