The No. 2-ranked South Carolina women’s basketball team plays host to No. 4 Texas on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.
The SEC foes are set to face off for the second time this season in the latest chapter of their budding rivalry. Texas (18-1, 3-1) and South Carolina (17-1, 4-0) were named co-SEC regular season champions last year before the Gamecocks blew out the Longhorns in the 2025 SEC Tournament title game and Final Four.

Texas threw the first punch this season with a narrow 66-64 victory over South Carolina on Nov. 27 after guard Rori Harmon’s game-winning jumper with one second remaining. Texas opened the season with 18 consecutive wins to mark their best start since 1986, but suffered their first loss against LSU on Jan. 11. Coach Vic Schaefer pointed to his team’s 17 turnovers and poor execution as the reason behind the loss.
Meanwhile, South Carolina has won 10 consecutive games since losing to Texas in November, including a 4-0 start to conference play. Joyce Edwards leads the Gamecocks with 20.7 points and 1.9 steals per game.
