Sam Querrey predicts Amanda Anisimova’s Grand Slam chances in 2026

by

For many, Amanda Anisimova is one of the greatest talents in the world of women's tennis.

The 24-year-old was a dominant figure last season, reaching two Grand Slam finals. Although she fell short of the victory, her performances give optimism and hope that she will lift the Grand Slam trophy this year.

Many analysts and experts are already making predictions about her 2026 season.

Sam Querrey spoke on The Tennis Worthy Podcast, stressing that Anisimova could dominate this season and finish the season as world number one.

Anisimova is currently ranked fourth and will have a tough task to overtake the players in front of her, namely Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka.

“Part of me thinks Amanda [Anisimova] could finish the year ranked number one in the world,” said Querrey.

McEnroe also shared his opinion with Sam Querrey, believing that Anisimova can indeed win a Major this year.

“I think she wins a major this year,” said McEnroe.

“I think she does too,” said Querrey.

Querrey on her mental strength

Querrey noted that Anisimova shows extraordinary strength and mentality: although she lost to Iga Swiatek 6:0, 6:0 at Wimbledon, she managed to come back and shine at the US Open.

Her ball striking is reminiscent of Aryna Sabalenka, especially in ideal conditions or indoors, when the roof is closed, as sometimes in Australia.

Sam stressed that Anisimova can hit the ball harder than almost any player he has seen. He believes that this year she has a chance to win a Grand Slam and seriously compete with Sabalenka and Swiatek for the number one spot in the WTA rankings.

Whether the statements of famous figures in the world of tennis will mean Anisimova remains to be seen. The young tennis player certainly has the potential to compete with the best.

Her statements before the beginning of this season bring optimism that she will really give her maximum and do everything to reach the top of the WTA list.
