Stanford Swims Past UCLA Behind Wins From Torri Huske, Caroline Bricker

The Stanford women defeated UCLA in a women’s swimming and diving dual on Friday, Jan. 16.

Stanford opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. Alana Berlin, Lucy Bell, Gigi Johnson and Annam Olasewere got to the wall in 3:28.62.

Olympian Torri Huske won the 100 IM in 52.56, ahead of UCLA’s Rosie Murphy (54.19) and Stanford’s Caroline Bricker (54.22).

Olasewere won the 50 free in 21.73 to hold off UCLA’s Jada Duncan (22.09). Johnson won the 100 butterfly (50.51) ahead of Duncan (51.06), who broke the Bruins school record.

Caroline Bricker won the 200 free in 1:43.98. Lucy Thomas won the 100 free in 48.70 and 100 breaststroke in 50.33. Emily Thompson won the 500 free in 4:48.94.

Huske, Johnson, Kayla Wilson and Jamie Brennan won the 400 free relay in 3:1.00.

Stanford’s Molly Gray won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 291.98 and 3-meter (315.13).

UCLA’s Rosie Murphy won the 400 IM in 4:06.83, holding off Stanford’s Charlotte Hook (4:08.09). Claudia Yovanovich won the 100 back in 52.17.

Stanford will face USC on Saturday, while UCLA will face Cal on Saturday.
