Moa brothers together as Michigan football adds portal linebacker

by

Michigan football tends to have siblings on the team, and with the Metcalf brothers both departing for Tennessee this offseason, that just could not stand.

Of course, that’s not why the Wolverines accepted another sibling duo, but with freak athlete Salesi Moa committing to the maize and blue on Friday, it stood to reason that his brother, Aisea, would follow.

Aisea Moa, a linebacker who most recently played at Michigan State, via BYU, entered the transfer portal with the coaching change in East Lansing. On Saturday, he chose to follow in his brother’s footsteps by committing and subsequently signing with Michigan football.

Moa is likely a solid reserve piece at linebacker who has experience playing under Jay Hill while with the Cougars (much like Max Alford, the other transfer portal linebacker signee). At MSU, Moa had 12 tackles in 12 games, along with a tackle for loss, two passes broken up, and three quarterback hurries. He had 13 tackles the year before at BYU, and one the year previous. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Here are the key facts from MGoBlue.com:

Aisea Moa | LB | 6-2, 235 | Michigan State, BYU• Spent three seasons at BYU (2022-24) and one at Michigan State (2025)• Appeared in 27 games with one start at linebacker and earned four varsity letters• Totaled 29 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, with two pass breakups and one forced fumble• Brother of U-M athlete Salesi Moa
