AAA Aired AI Video Showing Dominik Mysterio With AEW Title During FOX Premiere

by

Lucha Libre AAA’s premiere on FOX Latin America was supposed to be a landmark moment—but a major production mistake turned it into a viral embarrassment.

During the broadcast, AAA aired a pre-taped video package hyping Dominik Mysterio, who wasn’t even on the show. But that wasn’t the real problem. The issue? Dominik was shown wearing the AEW World Championship belt thanks to a flawed AI-generated graphic. That’s right—AAA accidentally plastered a rival company’s top title on a WWE star during its own debut show on a major network. Bryan Alvarez broke down the gaffe on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“So there’s a video about Dom, who was not on the show, and in the video, somebody at the video editing used AI. AI tried to do that one again, didn’t it? Artificial intelligence. And the belt — AI put an AEW title belt around his waist.”

Dave Meltzer backed it up with a simple but brutal confirmation, “He was wearing an AEW title belt? Yes. The AEW title belt, not the AAA belt.”

The moment sparked plenty of confusion—and memes—online. Not only was Dominik not booked for the show, but he’s currently under WWE contract and has never held AEW gold. For a debut on a major platform like FOX, the error couldn’t have come at a worse time.

While AAA hasn’t publicly commented on the AI mix-up, it raises serious questions about quality control, especially with tools like AI becoming more common in video production. This wasn’t just a graphical hiccup—it aired during one of AAA’s biggest television milestones, and the mistake showcased a competitor’s championship front and center.

UPDATE: The video was deleted from the AAA account.

Do you think promotions should be trusting AI for key video packages? Or should companies stick to manual control for major debuts like this? Sound off in the comments.
