The Marlins are set to acquire right-hander from the Rockies for a Minor League pitcher, a source told MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. The clubs haven’t confirmed the trade.

Blalock, 25, was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for righty Michael Lorenzen, who finalized a one-year, $8 million contract with Colorado on Thursday.

The trade for Blalock adds a pitcher with Major League experience to Miami’s staff after the team traded Edward Cabrera to the Cubs and Ryan Weathers to the Yankees earlier this month.

Blalock has recorded an 8.16 ERA over 21 games (18 starts) in the big leagues, making his debut with the Brewers in June 2024 before being traded to the Rockies with Yujanyer Herrera for reliever Nick Mears the following month.
