Bowman Gray legend Burt Myers to run NASCAR Cup Clash at historic short track

by

Burt Myers will be back behind the wheel of a NASCAR Cup car in the pre-season Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. He will again drive the No. 50 Chevrolet for Team Amerivet. In 2025, he failed to advance into the main event after a crash involving Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who was humorously part of the team’s 2026 announcement video.

Myers made his official Cup debut in a points-paying race when he competed at Martinsville Speedway a few months later, finishing 36th with Team Amerivet.

Veteran crew chief Tony Eury Jr. will once again be calling the shots for Myers. Eury is no stranger to the pit box, and previously worked with Dale Earnhardt Jr.  at DEI.

“Getting another shot in the Cup car at Bowman Gray means a lot to me,” said Myers. “Last time left us wanting more, and I’m grateful to Team AmeriVet and our partners for believing in me and giving us a chance to come back and do it right in front of these fans.”

Alongside Tim Brown, Myers is one of the winningest drivers in the history of Bowman Gray, securing his 100th win at the track last May. The 50-year- old is is a ten-time track champion at ‘The Madhouse’ as well.
