Booker T didn’t hold back during Josh Briggs’ entrance on WWE NXT—and his words are now trending for all the wrong reasons.
As the February 3rd episode of NXT on The CW gears up to crown a new champion in a six-man Ladder Match, qualifying bouts are heating up. One of those matches featured Briggs taking on Shiloh Hill. But before the bell even rang, Booker T stirred the pot on commentary.
While Briggs made his entrance, the WWE Hall of Famer gave a raw assessment of the moment, saying:
“Josh Briggs, like I say, this is a pivotal moment for this guy. WrestleMania is coming up, and you know what happens after WrestleMania, people start getting cut around here…”
Briggs ultimately lost the match to Hill, failing to qualify for the NXT Championship Ladder Match. The timing of Booker T’s comment—paired with Briggs’ loss—sparked immediate speculation online about the future of some NXT talent. Many saw the line as a reality check more than a casual remark, especially considering the history of post-WrestleMania releases across WWE.
Briggs has been with WWE since the summer of 2020 and has spent his entire tenure on the NXT brand. Whether Booker’s words were a warning, a shoot, or just tough-love commentary remains to be seen—but it definitely lit up social media.
