Is the UNC basketball team in danger of letting its season slip away? Not necessarily, but panic is slowly starting to set amongst Tar Heel Nation.
North Carolina (14-4, 2-3 ACC) lost to both Stanford and Cal on its West Coast swing last week, playing the Cardinal (14-5, 3-3 ACC) close but struggling greatly against the Golden Bears (14-5, 2-4 ACC). The Tar Heels continue to struggle defending from deep, but have no issue scoring the basketball.

UNC now prepares to host Notre Dame at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night, the last January game in Chapel Hill. The Fighting Irish (10-8, 1-4 ACC) are struggling for a third straight season under Micah Shrewsberry, a far cry from their extensive NCAA Tournament success with Mike Brey.
North Carolina has a perfect 11-0 record at home entering Wednesday night’s game, which the Dean Dome should be pretty full for. The Tar Heels are still a good team and, as senior caption Seth Trimble recently said, are stuck at a bump in the road.
Notre Dame, ironically, beat Stanford in an extremely low-scoring game back on December 30. That was the Fighting Irish’s lone conference win, with a 1-point loss at Cal their only close ACC defeat.
If you’re back in Chapel Hill for this one, tickets are relatively affordable. Get in one more game before the weekend. If you’re planning to watch tonight’s game on TV, your favorite streaming device, listening on the radio or somewhere else, keep reading below for more broadcast information.

UNC vs. Notre Dame prediction, picks, odds
Wednesday presents a golden bounce-back opportunity for the Tar Heels, who hope to remain perfect at home. Notre Dame won’t roll over, though, hoping to pick up its first ACC win in 2026.
North Carolina struggles, even against the Fighting Irish’s spotty offense, but finds a way to pull through late. UNC shows a few signs of defensive improvement, particularly on the perimeter.
