Jill’s thoughts…

Wisconsin is an improved team over the past couple of years and road wins are hard to get in the Big Ten. Nebaska also doesn’t play the same level of defense we’ve seen for the past few years, but they understand they need to score points to compensate. I haven’t seen anything to suggest Wisconsin’s defense will be stout enough to drag the Huskers scoring into the range needed for the Badgers to pull off the upset, but I do think the game will stay close longer than Husker fans would like.

Nebraska 84 Wisconsin 68

Jarek’s Pre-Tipoff Thoughts:

Washington is one of the weirder teams to kind of gauge here in the Big Ten. Sometimes they look good (see win at USC), only to look not so great a little bit later (see loss at Seattle). They have been in most contests within conference play, but the final scores suggest a little bit otherwise. Nebraska is a heavy favorite by basketball standards, but sleeping on Washington would be a giant mistake.

The Huskers have one job as always, protect the vault. PBA has been a massive fortress for Nebraska in recent years, and this year so far is no different. The nation’s longest win streak, one of only 3 remaining unbeatens in all of Division 1 college basketball, and one of 2 power conference unbeatens. If Nebraska wants a high seed going into the NCAA Tournament, just win at home.

This is going to be another one of those straightforward games I feel. Nebraska might be locked into a relatively tight battle in the first half but will find a way to blow the doors open and be comfortable enough in the second half. Limit Washington’s rebounding prowess and Nebraska will be just fine. Score Prediction: Nebraska 85 Washington 68
