USA Rugby have confirmed a two-test summer tour of South Africa for the Womenβs Eagles. Two world class venues will host the matches against the Springbok Women. Ellis Park in Johannesburg is the backdrop planned for July 4, with the second test at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on July 11. Both will be part of double-headers with the Menβs Springboks set to face England and Scotland.
The Eagles have faced the Springbok Women on six previous occasions, the most recent a 38-17 win at a neutral venue in London. Both matches on US soil in 2013 were wins for the Eagles, with the only success for the Springboks played in Canada during the 2011 Nations Cup. This will be the first time the USA has played in South Africa.
A development tour will immediately follow the senior tests, with the USA u20 Women to play two matches against their South African counterparts on July 18 and 25. The Senior Womenβs Eagles will first take part in the Pacific Four opposite Australia, Canada, and New Zealand in April.
