The Trojans found themselves in an early deficit as they trailed as many as 14 points in the first quarter, but quickly turned the tables and rallied back to take a 37-36 lead by halftime. Jazzy Davidson would contribute on her end offensively as she racked up 12 points on 4-8 shooting and added 3 blocks, plus a steal, to her credit.
The Women of Troy shot particularly better from the floor than the Spartans did, with USC shooting 50% compared to Michigan State’s 36%. Despite USC outbidding the Spartans on the shooting side, Kennedy Blair and company held their efforts steady in securing the win.
USC tried to change their fortunes late in the game as they proceeded to go on a 10-0 run to pull within two points behind Michigan State, but the Women of Troy would hit a cold streak in the final 2 minutes of the game and were unable to pull ahead.
