Penfold Golf, the British brand with a storied history dating back to 1927, has signed PGA Tour pro Matt Wallace (a Brit appropriately enough) as a brand ambassador.
In most normal circumstances, this kind of signing is barely newsworthy. For Penfold, however, this signing is significant. The brand dates back to 1927 and legendary ball manufacturer Albert Penfold. It eventually disappeared before being reborn over the past decade as a premium lifestyle brand. For such a small company, any presence on Tour is significant.
For a British company, signing Wallace is a bit of a coup. Considered one of England’s most dynamic Tour pros, Wallace will be Penfold’s first brand ambassador since Seve Ballesteros in 1979. That’s the year Seve won his first Open Championship.
Penfold and Wallace: A Union Jack union
The 35-year-old Wallace is a native Londoner and has played professionally since 2012. After winning four times on the European Tour, he joined the PGA Tour full-time in 2019. That year, Wallace tied for third at the PGA Championship and 12th at the U.S. Open. He also finished sixth at that year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
His lone win on the PGA Tour came in 2023 at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
“Matt embodies everything Penfold stands for, including British excellence, determination and a touch of understated style,” says Penfold Golf CEO Gavin Perrett. “As we continue to build on our remarkable legacy, having a player of Matt’s caliber carrying our bags and accessories is a perfect fit.”
Wallace says he’s thrilled to be associated with previous Penfold staffers from the 1970s. That was Penfold’s heyday when its stellar staff included the likes of Ballesteros, Gary Player and Nick Faldo.
“Penfold has been a part of British golf for almost 100 years,” Wallace said. “To represent an iconic brand that’s always stood for quality and authenticity while associating with some of the game’s legendary players is something very special to me.”

The partnership will include product collaborations and personal appearances as Penfold approaches its 100th anniversary in 2027.
The partnership kicks off immediately. Wallace will be sporting a Penfold staff bag this weekend at The American Express in La Quinta, Calif. The bag is inspired by the one Seve used while on staff with Penfold in the ‘70s.
