Florida State women’s basketball (7-13, 2-6 ACC) blew past SMU (8-12,1-7), 73-51, on Thursday night at the Moody Coliseum. This was FSU’s second ACC victory and its most dominating win in the conference.
FSU dominated from the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs, 56-32. FSU also shot 12 3-pointers.

Veteran guard Jasmine Shavers led the Seminoles. The Mesquite, Texas, native scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds. She shot 6 of 10 from behind the arc.
Pania Davis, who started in place of Allie Kubek, who was out in the Thursday matchup, recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Sole Williams added 12 points and six assists. Tatum Greene had nine points and nine rebounds.
Shavers set the tone with 11 early points in the first quarter as the Seminoles were ahead 16-12. The Seminoles ended the half, knocking down five of their six 3-pointers, giving them a 30-24 lead.
FSU didn’t slow down. It opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run, with Williams and Emma Risch leading the charge. FSU outscored SMU 43-27 in the second half, leading as many as 22 points. The Seminoles closed out the game with a 7-0 run.

What’s next for FSU women’s basketball
FSU will return home to host Georgia Tech (8-12, 3-5) on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center to end the month.
Then the Seminoles will open the month of February with two ACC road games at Clemson (13-7, 4-4) on Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. and at North Carolina State (13-6, 6-2) on Thursday, Feb. 5 in a Pray4Kay series.
