Georgia OT transfer commits to Miami Hurricanes

by

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather was the last Georgia player in the transfer portal without a destination until now. Meriweather has signed with the Miami Hurricanes after Miami’s national title loss.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound offensive lineman is a former three-star recruit. His departure from Georgia hurts the Bulldogs’ offensive line depth, but there’s no guarantee he’ll start for Miami in 2026.

Meriweather is an unranked transfer. He’s the Hurricanes’ eighth transfer portal addition this winter. He’ll join his former Georgia teammate Damon Wilson at Miami. The Hurricanes have the No. 30 incoming transfer class in the country and are ranked just ahead of Georgia’s No. 31 transfer class.

Meriweather made 12 appearances for Georgia in 2025. He primarily played as a reserve offensive lineman and on special teams. The big, lengthy lineman is a former four-star recruit from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Georgia.

This offseason, Georgia lost starting offensive guard Micah Morris and starting offensive tackle Monroe Freeling to the 2026 NFL draft. The Bulldogs also lost Bo Hughley (Colorado), Kelton Smith (previously medically retired; transferred to Georgia State) and Nyier Daniels (dismissed after arrest) to the transfer portal.
