Monday Headlines: Kentucky in the Basketball Rankings

by

Somehow it’s flown a bit under the radar, but Kentucky Basketball has suddenly won five straight Southeastern Conference games after starting out 0-2.

The Wildcats most recently knocked off Ole Miss to gain some momentum ahead of back-to-back Top-25 matchups — both of which will be on the road.

Kentucky will face No. 15 Vanderbilt on Tuesday in Nashville, where ESPN’s Basketball Power Index is giving them just a 32.7% chance to win.

They’ll then travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday to face John Calipari and the No. 20 Razorbacks. ESPN’s BPI is giving them a slightly better chance to win that game, setting their odds at 41.9%.

Both games will be broadcast on ESPN.

For now, Kentucky stands at No. 24 according to DRatings and No. 27 according to EvanMiya as well as Haslametrics.

As for the women’s team, they’ve hit a rough patch in their season by losing a third consecutive game — this time to Georgia at Historic Memorial Coliseum.

Their recent slide is the first three-game losing streak under the leadership of head coach Kenny Brooks.

They’ll look to bounce back in a road matchup with Arkansas this coming Sunday with coverage on the SEC Network.
