The road to recovery for Elton Prince is still long and uncertainโbut according to his tag team partner Kit Wilson, thereโs reason to be hopeful.
In a new interview on January 27, 2026, Wilson talked to Chris Van Vliet and gave fans the first real update on Princeโs status since his tag team partner underwent a serious two-level neck fusion surgery earlier this month. While the operation itself was a success and Prince is doing well, Wilson made it clear that the situation remains delicateโespecially given the part of the body involved.
โHeโs doing good. The surgery happened, and itโs nice that he was able to talk about the surgery because heโs quite a private person.โ
Wilson praised Prince for opening up about his condition, which isnโt something he usually does. Princeโs injury wasnโt just career-threateningโit was frightening. And while fans might be eager for a Pretty Deadly comeback, Wilson urged patience.
โThe surgery went well, and itโs been more than two weeks โ everythingโs on track so far โ but itโs just a touch-and-go situation.โ
With the neck being such a complex and vulnerable area, Wilson stressed that thereโs no room for assumptions or rushed decisions, and theyโre taking it day by day.
โItโs the neck, so itโs such a specialist area, weโre taking it day by day. But heโs doing good, which is fantastic. Itโs just a scary thing.โ
The seriousness of the situation became public earlier this month when Prince himself posted a statement on social media, confirming not only the surgery but also the terrifying moment in the ring that led to it. He revealed that the injury occurred back in May 2025, during a match where a misstep led to immediate neurological trauma.
โBack in May I took a bad landing in the ring, the top of my head hit the mat and what felt like burning hot electricity exploded through my neck and my arms. I lost control of my hands as all my fingers curled in and were stuck for a moment. It was pretty terrifyingโฆโ
After months of tests and uncertainty, Prince finally underwent a two-level neck fusion in early Januaryโa procedure that is often life-altering for athletes, let alone professional wrestlers.
โโฆwe found the problem and yesterday I successfully underwent a 2 level neck fusion. Not exactly where I hoped to be at 28, but we are owed nothing in this life and I am just grateful to be on the road to recovery.โ
Recovery from this kind of surgery isnโt quick. In sports medicine, the timeline before full-contact activity is even considered ranges from 12 to 18 months. And in WWE, itโs usually longer. Even after being medically cleared, superstars must go through rigorous reconditioning, internal evaluations, and creative planning before being brought back to television.
Kit Wilsonโs update confirms the reality: Elton Prince wonโt be returning to the ring any time soon, but heโs stable, supported and facing this recovery one step at a time.
