After another impressive week for No. 10 Iowa women’s basketball (18-2, 9-0), Hawkeyes guard Addie Deal is at it again, repeating as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award winner. Deal shared this week’s honor with Illinois freshman forward Cearah Parchment.
The 6-foot native of Irvine, Calif., took her play to another level against Ohio State to close a perfect week for Iowa that saw the Hawkeyes topple a pair of top-15 opponents.

Against Ohio State, Deal posted 20 points on 8-for-17 shooting, along with five assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block in 32 minutes. Deal’s performance set new career highs in points, assists, and minutes played in a single game.
Deal’s sensational night is nothing new as she bested her previous career-high of 18 points which she recorded last week against Michigan State on Jan. 18.
With senior guard Taylor McCabe officially out for the remainder of the season with a torn left ACL, Deal can expect a larger workload moving forward.
Deal has the opportunity to continue her phenomenal play in the immediate future, as she plays in front of friends and family this weekend when the Hawkeyes travel to Southern California for games at USC (Jan. 29) and No. 3 UCLA (Feb. 1).
