Tolbert’s 26 lift Lady Hawks past Central

GLADEVILLE — K.T. Tolbert totaled 26 points last Friday night as visiting Green Hill pulled away from Wilson Central 71-44.

She had 14 in the first quarter as the Lady Hawks led 17-10. Emma Savage sank three second-quarter 3-pointers as Green Hill built a 36-21 halftime lead. Tolbert tossed in seven more in the third as the visitors opened a 54-31 margin.

Savage fired in five triples for her 15 points while McKinlee Parker added 11, McKenna Solomon six on two 3s, Laura Pardo five, Juliana Mitchell four free throws and Ellea Earheart and McKenzie Mangan two apiece as Green Hill moved to 20-1 for the season and 6-1 in District 7-4A.

Wilson Central was playing without center Brylee Fly, who sprained her ankle during the game three nights earlier against Lebanon.

Callie Mirghavami led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points in the fourth quarter, including three triples. Eliana Ramsey hit 8 of 9 free throws and Kiley Jo Byrom two 3s as each added eight points while Alexis Jackson scored six (five in the second quarter) Freedom Pfeil five, Kylie Moss and Olivia Kinning two apiece and Riley Mirghavami and Emma Jackson a free throw each as Central slipped to 15-8, 1-6.

Lady Purple Tigers toss in 10 triples in winning district openerMURFREESBORO — Watertown opened the six-game District 8-3A schedule last Thursday with a 60-38 thumping of Central Magnet.

The Lady Purple Tigers led 16-7 at the first-quarter break, 31-20 at halftime and 46-20 through three periods.

Macie Brelje led the Lady Tigers with 16 points while Dailey Hight hit five 3-pointers for her 145. Molly Followill fired in two triples for half of her 12 while Maddie Willard drained three treys on her way to 11. Bryley Bowers threw in three, Larkin Cherry two and Izzie Burns a free throw as Watertown hit 10 3s.

Norah Clancy connected on two triples in leading Central Magnet with 12 points while Madison Stanley sank 6 of 7 free throws on her way to 10.

Watertown’s district game at Macon County scheduled for last night has been moved to next Tuesday.

Friendship falls short to Clarksville AcademyFriendship Christian put up a fight last Thursday night but ultimately succumbed to visiting ClarksvilleAcademy 59-48 at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Playing a night earlier than scheduled due to the wintry forecast, Friendship fired out to a 10-2 lead. But Clarksville Academy caught and passed the Lady Commanders on a steal and layup by Layla Clark for a 13-11 Lady Cougars lead with 21 seconds left in the first quarter.

Annika Langford’s putback before the buzzer pulled Friendship into a 13-13 tie at the first-quarter break.

Friendship never led again but did tie the score several times during the second before Trinity Bankston scored in the post with less than two minutes left to break a 21-21 tie. The started a 10-2 Clarksville Academy run to close out the first half, capped by Sicily Robinson’s steal and coast-to-coast layup for a 31-21 Lady Cougar lead at the break.

The Lady Commanders went on a 7-0 run early in the third quarter to close the margin to 33-30. But Clarksville Academy turned the tide and went into the fourth quarter up 40-34 and Friendship got no closer than four points in the fourth.

Robinson racked up 20 points and Bankston 18 for the Lady Cougars, who returned to Clarksville with a 14-9 record, 5-5 in District 4-IIA.

Eighth-grader Norah Box bagged a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Lady Commanders with 11 points. Natalie Major did all of her scoring in the second half as she and Ella Bryson each added eight points while Langford scored seven in the first half, Haivyn Boone and Maggie Reed five each, Anna Kate Reed a 3 and D’Nora Owens a free throw as Friendship fell to 6-13, 2-8.

Friendship’s game at University School of Nashville scheduled for last night has been moved to next Monday.

Third-quarter Hendersonville run leads to Lady Bears’ first district lossMT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet coach Jeremy Hawks previously said Hendersonville had given his Lady Bears trouble recently.

The Lady Commandos gave them more than they could handle last Thursday as the Lady Bears suffered their first District 7-4A loss 58-44.

The Lady Bears led 18-16 at the first-quarter break and 31-30 at halftime before a 14-3 third quarter sent Hendersonville ahead 44-34 going into the fourth.

Kyndall Cripps led the Lady Commandos with 14 points, half of which came during the third quarter, while Iliah Mack managed 12, including seven in the first.

Aaliyah Holman hit four 3s, three in the second half, in leading the Lady Bears with 14 points. McClaine Ringenberg tossed in two second-quarter 3-pointers on her way to 13 first-half points. Addy Osborne added eight points, Claire Emery four, Makayla Hopson a 3 and Isabella Craig two.

Devilettes roll past Lady WildcatsGLADEVILLE — Lebanon’s girls led from start to finish Tuesday night in a 70-48 win over host Wilson Central as the Devilettes stayed on the heels of Mt. Juliet and Green Hill in the District 7-4A race.

The Devilettes scored the first six points. The Lady Wildcats closed the gap to 6-5 and 12-9 before Tiara Spencer’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer lifted Lebanon to a 15-9 lead at the first-quarter break.

Lebanon continued to keep the Lady Wildcats at bay in the second quarter to lead 29-20 at halftime before expanding the lead to 53-32 going into the fourth.

This was a foul-filled fray as the teams were whistled for a combined 41 personals, not counting a technical on Lady Wildcats coach Jason Knowles. The Devilettes dropped in 23 of 34 free throws while Central sank 12 of 18.

Spencer swished two triples as she led Lebanon with 15 points to go with five deflections and six steals while Naleiya Withrow-Walker finished with 14 and five assists and Tramaria Neal knocked down 7 of 8 from the line on her way to 13. Elle Beth McDonald sank 6 of 8 from the line and a 3 for her nine while Maggie Kelley added eight in the second half. Carleigh Barrett bagged two triples for her six while Audrey Jones finished with five off the bench as the Devilettes moved to 16-4 for the season and 4-2 in the district.

Eliana Ramsey, who went into halftime with three fouls, didn’t pick up another while leading the Lady Wildcats with 11 points, sinking 6 of 8 free throws. Brylee Fly finished with nine before exiting with a sprained ankle early in the third quarter. Olivia Kinning scored seven points, while Kiley Jo Byrom bottomed out a pair of 3s for her six. Freedom Pfeil finished with five points, Callie Mirghavami four and Kylie Moss and Alexis Jackson three each as Central committed 25 turnovers in slipping to 15-7, 1-5.

Lebanon’s home game last Friday with Beech was postponed due to the wintry forecast. The game and homecoming ceremonies have not been rescheduled.

Balanced Watertown winS non-district finaleRED BOILING SPRINGS — Molly Followill and Macie Brelje provided a balanced outside-inside attack Tuesday night as Watertown rolled past Red Boiling Springs 51-38 in the Lady Purple Tigers’ final non-district game of the season.

Point guard Followill fired in four 3-pointers while forward Brelje did her damage closer in as each finished with 14 points. Dailey Hight hit two triples on her way to eight, Izzie Burns five, Maddie Willard four and Julianna Pruitt and Larkin Cherry a 3 apiece.

The Lady Tigers led 18-5 at the first-quarter break, 26-21 at halftime and 37-29 going into the fourth.

Sidney Massengille sank four triples in leading the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points while Zoe McDuffee dropped in 10.

The remaining six games will be District 8-3A affairs, starting with Thursday’s trip to Murfreesboro Central Magnet, a game moved up a day due to the wintry forecast.

Friendship falls to Clarksville

Friendship Christian, picking up a girls-only game with visiting Clarksville, built an early lead over the Class 4A Lady Wildcats before succumbing 55-48 Tuesday night at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Because District 4-IIA rival Mt. Juliet Christian isn’t fielding a girls’ team, the Lady Commanders have had to find games apart from the boys and had a home-and-home with Westmoreland, whose game at WHS was canceled last Thursday so FCS could get in a District 4-IIA game with Clarksville Academy which was moved from Friday due to the wintry weather threat. Clarksville was a late addition and played at 5 p.m. before the boys’ game, which was moved from MJCA.

The Lady Commanders led 14-11 at the first-quarter break before Clarksville moved ahead 32-27 at halftime. Friendship kept on the Lady Wildcats’ heels and even briefly led in the fourth quarter after trailing 41-40 going into the period.

Shakiah Vance led the Lady Wildcats with 21 points while Ally Howard had 11.

Freshman Ella Bryson led the Lady Commanders with 11 points. Kaitlyn Danilaitis and eighth-grader Haivyn Boone each tossed in two 3-pointers as they and Annika Langford each added eight points. Natalie Major scored six, Maggie Reed a 3 and Norah Box and Anna Kate Reed two free throws each.

First-place Lady Bears dominate Gallatin

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet maintained ownership of the top spot in District 7-4A Tuesday night with a 63-31 thumping of Gallatin.

The Lady Bears roared to a 30-5 first-quarter lead and were up 37-16 at halftime.

Sophia McGresham led the Lady Bears with 14 points, 12 coming after halftime. Ryleigh Clayton connected on two first-quarter 3-pointers as she tossed in 12 while Addy Osborne buried three triples in the first as she scored nine of her 11 during the opening eight minutes. Aaliyah Holman hit two triples on her way to 10. Claire Emery added nine points, McClaine Ringenberg four, Makayla Hopson two and Lexie Stoop a free throw.

Jevonna Montgomery led the Lady Wave with 11 points.
