Ahead of a crucial Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match, Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan keeps himself in a serene mindset. The attacking intention he showed in the recent past in the limited over matches was not visible at all in his eyes while talking with the media on the eve of Mumbai’s final league-round Ranji Trophy match against Delhi.
Khan was asked about his chances in Team India. In reply, what he said sounded like some words from a philosopher’s mouth. He wants to keep his focus on a regular routine.
Sarfaraz Khan talks about his Team India chances
The Mumbai batter, who recently registered his fifth first-class double century for Mumbai against Hyderabad in a must-win match, does not want to think about the days he passed on. He doesn’t even want to think about the upcoming days, as his only focus is the present.

“I try to stay in the present. I can’t do anything about the past. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. All I know is that I’m going to go home, bat at home, spend time with my father, sleep at the hotel, and play the match tomorrow. I don’t think about the future. I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing for years,” Khan said, as quoted by the Indian Express.
Sarfaraz Khan believes he is extremely lucky
Despite playing repeated match-winning knocks, the selectors have yet to open the door for Sarfaraz Khan for the second time. But, it was the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who showed their trust on the batter, who has been scoring runs with rapid pace in the recent matches for Mumbai.
Khan considers himself very lucky, as he will be sharing the same dressing room with MS Dhoni after playing together with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“I played with Virat Bhai at RCB. I never thought I’d get a chance to play with Rohit bhai, but I did in the Test team. I never thought I’d play with Mahi Bhai, especially after he retired from international cricket. But after going unsold, CSK picked me in the IPL. I consider myself very lucky,” Sarfaraz Khan added.
Who can be the future Team India captain?
Sarfaraz praised his brother Musheer Khan a lot. Sarfaraz believes that his brother has a good leadership quality, and in the future, Musheer can be appointed as the team India captain as well.
“I’m also working with Musheer. His bowling complements his batting and vice versa. It’s not a big deal for him. Musheer is going to be the captain of the Indian team one day. I keep an eye on him. He’s young and plays all three formats,” Sarfaraz Khan said about his brother Musheer Khan.
For the Mumbai vs Delhi match, the Khan brothers will have to perform at their best, as the Delhi cricket team also has ample amounts of firepower to demolish the opposition team.
