Has LSU women’s basketball returned to top 5 in the latest polls?

BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s basketball is back where they started the season.

After winning its last five Southeastern Conference games, which includes three ranked wins over Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma, Kim Mulkey‘s team is back inside the top 5 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll this week.

This is the first time in this calendar year the Tigers (19-2, 5-2 SEC) have been ranked inside the top 5. They lost to now No. 18 Kentucky and No. 6 Vanderbilt to open conference play right after the New Year. LSU has since rattled off five consecutive wins.

Vanderbilt, which does have the head-to-head win over LSU, dropped behind it in the rankings after going on the road and losing 103-74 to South Carolina this past Sunday.

This week, LSU hosts Arkansas on Thursday (7 p.m. CT, SEC Network) and No. 22 Alabama (18-3, 4-3) Sunday (11 a.m. CT, SEC Network).
