During his four seasons with the Oregon Ducks, linebacker Bryce Boettcher became one of the most beloved players on the team. And it wasn’t because of any sort of elite physical traits, as he’s relatively undersized (6-foot-2, 232 pounds) at the linebacker position and is far from the fastest player on the Ducks‘ defense.
But what set him apart, and what made him a fan favorite among Oregon fans, was his physicality and willingness to put his body on the line for his teammates and in order to win the game. His leadership during the 2024 and especially 2025 seasons was paramount for the excellence of two elite defenses.

He produced on the field as well, finishing with a team-leading 136 tackles and two forced fumbles as a senior, leading to his draft stock to rise.
On the field for Senior Bowl practices this week in front of numerous NFL coaches, front office personnel and scouts, Boettcher is showing everyone exactly what made him such a beloved player for the Ducks.
During a 1-on-1 pass-blocking drill between running backs and linebacker, Boettcher completely bulldozed Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton, knocking the Nittany Lions standout to the ground with impressive ease.
Singleton is widely seen as a Day 2 pick and in the mix for the first five running backs selected, with much of that reasoning being his reliability in pass protection.

Despite that, he proved to be no match for the Ducks’ standout linebacker, who’s draft stock — according to multiple scouts and analysts — has already seen a surge in the short time that he’s been at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL.
Boettcher will have two more practices to continue showing out before the Senior Bowl game is played on Saturday, Jan. 31.
