The Padres are set to reinforce their pitching depth, having agreed to a Minor League deal with left-hander Marco Gonzales, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand on Thursday.
The club has not confirmed the deal, which includes an invitation to MLB Spring Training and will be worth $1.5 million if Gonzales makes the Padres. Gonzales can earn an additional $1 million with incentives.
The 33-year-old Gonzales, who did not pitch professionally in 2025, posted a 4.54 ERA over seven starts with the Pirates in ’24. The former first-round pick of the Cardinals posted a 4.16 ERA across 170 Major League outings (162 starts) with the Cardinals, Mariners and Pirates from 2014-24.
