The North Carolina Tar Heels finally secured their first ACC road win last weekend, beating ACC rival Virginia 85-80, but they’ll play away from home again Saturday.
UNC (16-4, 4-3 ACC) will battle Georgia Tech in a 2 p.m. tip-off from McCamish Pavillion. The Yellow Jackets (11-10, 2-6 ACC), which lost Tuesday night at Virginia Tech, need a season-defining win to turn things around.

North Carolina enjoyed the week off, thanks to an upset win that turned its season around, but players can’t dwell for too long. Plenty of teams start rusty after seven days between games, but the Tar Heels will quickly find their footing.
UNC and Georgia Tech last clashed on December 7, 2024 in the ACC opener for both teams. North Carolina won this matchup, 68-65, to snap a 3-game skid.
This year, the Tar Heels are better poised to be an NCAA Tournament threat, while the Yellow Jackets are struggling towards a fifth-straight absence from the Big Dance.
North Carolina sports a younger, deeper lineup led by its post duo of Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson, with 3-and-D guys like Jarin Stevenson playing X-factor behind recent success. Georgia Tech also sports a pair of talented forwards, Kowacie Reeves Jr. (15.9 points per game) and Baye Ndongo (11.5 PPG), but team success is lacking.

Hubert Davis finally seems to know his team’s best rotations. Wilson continues thriving as a superstar, Derek Dixon is the answer at point guard and Jonathan Powell’s effectiveness goes beyond his scoring ability.
The Tar Heels start sluggish, but quickly take a first-half lead. UNC’s perimeter defense continues to respond, free throws improve and the ride back to Chapel Hill is happy.
Score prediction: UNC 89, Georgia Tech 72
