An LSU football staffer received his second promotion of the year amidst shakeup across the front office. Per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Sunday, JR Belton was named assistant general manager.
Belton first arrived at LSU in 2021 under Ed Orgeron as the director of scouting. He remained in Baton Rouge under Brian Kelly as the director of recruiting then as the director of football operations. Now working under Lane Kiffin, Belton continues to climb the ranks in operations and personnel.

Over his time with the Tigers, Belton played a part in signing three top-10 high school classes as well as back-to-back No. 1 transfer portal classes. LSU signed 59 players rated either four or five-star prospects with Belton at the helm of recruiting.
A Ruston, LA native, Ruston was a standout quarterback at West Monroe. He played college football at Louisiana Tech and graduated with a business degree in 2019. He remained with the Bulldogs as a recruiting intern then went to Virginia as a regional scout before returning to his home state to join LSU.
