The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to launch a new domestic T20 competition during the T20 World Cup 2026 window. Notably, the board has also decided to scrap the A+ category from the upcoming men’s central contract list, citing the limited number of cricketers who play consistently in all formats.
Scotland replaced Bangladesh in the World Cup after the BCB refused to send its men’s team to India due to security concerns. The BCB held several discussions with the ICC and asked for their matches to be shifted to Sri Lanka, but the request was not accepted. Bangladesh were set to play all their matches in India.

Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Kumar Das will lead Dhumketu XI, while Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Durbar XI and Akbar Ali will head Duronto XI. Several players, including Litton, were reportedly unhappy with the decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup.
The tournament will offer total prize money and player fees worth Tk 2.5 crore (Rs. 1.87 crore). Notably, the event will also use the Impact Player rule, popularised in the Indian Premier League.
“We will be giving match fees along with other things. We are expecting to announce a good amount as prize money and all these efforts are taken to make sure that the tournament is competitive,” a BCB official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
